Assisted Living of Broward was founded in 2002 and is located in the upscale gated community of EMERALD SPRINGS in an elite area of SILVER LAKES in Pembroke Pines. It is accessible from Pines Blvd. and 178th Ave. and is just about 3.5 miles from Interstate-75.

The facility is equipped for adverse conditions like a Hurricane and is approved by the County Emergency Management Division. An automatic Generator on the premises powers the entire facility including the Air Conditioning, All appliances and electrical for 5 days. Ample supply of food, medications, PPE and supplies are kept on the premises at any given time.

As per the State regulations, 6-bed Assisted Living Facilities are inspected routinely by the following governing agencies:

  • County Health Department.
  • County Emergency Management Division
  • Local Fire Department.
  • Ombudsman Council.
  • State Agency for Health Care Administration
Agency for Health Care Administration conducts Biennial Inspections to approve the renewal of the facility license.

VISITATION POLICY


Visiting Hours

  1. Visiting Hours are from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm seven days a week.
  2. Visitors can visit the resident’s rooms, common areas, or the back patio at any time between 9.00 am and 9.00 pm seven days a week.
  3. Visitations are open to visitors regardless of their immunization and vaccination status but should follow all the Infection Control guidelines.
  4. Family members and Essential Caregivers are no longer restricted from maintaining social distance and can hug and come in close contact with their loved ones.
  5. Since this is a 6-bed facility, with a limited overall square footage space, it is recommended that at most five visitors per resident visit the resident simultaneously.
  6. In the event exceptions must be made for special cases, the administrator must be notified.
  7. Exceptions will be made for out-of-town guests when there is limited time availability or to accommodate flight schedules.
  8. Special Consideration is given to end-of-life situations where family members will be allowed access to the premises regardless of the visitation Hours.
  9. Residents can leave the facility for outdoor visits and doctor’s appointments with their designated and authorized representatives or Essential Caregivers after following the sign-out procedures in the Sign- In and Sign-Out Logbook.
  10. Residents can leave the facility for overnight stays with their designated and authorized representatives after following the sign-out procedures in the Sign-In and Sign-Out Logbook.
  11. The facility will allow access to any representative of the federal or state government, including, but not limited to, representatives of the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Health, the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Office of the Attorney General, and the Department of Elderly Affairs; any law enforcement officer; any representative of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program; and the resident’s physician.
  12. All visitors entering the premises must sanitize their hands and follow all precautions for infection control. Masks are provided to visitors when needed, and visitors are encouraged to wear them to keep all the residents safe. The administrator, manager, or Direct care staff on duty will ensure that the visitation guidelines are being followed.
  13. Visitors showing any symptoms of cold, cough, fever, or any indications of contagious conditions must not enter the premises until all symptoms have cleared.
  14. Residents newly admitted into the facility, who are struggling to adjust to their new environment will be given emotional support to help them adjust. Family members and Essential Caregivers will be encouraged to visit them to help them during the adjustment period.
  15. A Resident who used to walk and interact with others but now seems depressed will be given emotional support, and family visitation will be encouraged for emotional well-being.
  16. A Resident who might be grieving the loss of a friend or family member will be given emotional support and encouragement. Family visitation will be encouraged to help with the grieving process.
  17. Family members and Essential Caregivers can help the residents make medical decisions to ease the process for the residents.

Telephone Communication

  1. Residents will have access to the facility phone for making or receiving phone calls. However, since the facility phone is a business line, phone calls are limited to 5 minutes.
  2. In case residents like to use the phone for more than 5 minutes, it is recommended that they install a private landline or have their cell phone.

Written Correspondence

  1. Residents can send or receive unopened mail at the facility’s address. However, if the residents have dementia or Alzheimers, it is recommended that all financial, legal, and important mail be sent to the resident’s POA’s address.
